Young Friends of Film: Le Boucher
Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 7:30 pm

[A] classically simple but relentlessly probing thriller
–– Time Out London

Ira Sachs, award-winning director of Forty Shades of Blue and Married Life, will introduce the film. As always, there will be a post-film party with an open bar and hors d’oeuvres.

Le Boucher
Claude Chabrol, France/Italy, 1970; 93m
After serving in the military, Popaul (Jean Yanne) moves to the French countryside where he works as a butcher and meets the enchanting schoolteacher Helene (Stéphane Audran). The dance of seduction begins, against the backdrop of several mysterious murders in town. As a sense of dread mounts, Le Boucher’s charming love story concludes with a major twist. A selection of the 1970 New York Film Festival.
